The nation was originally intended for students from the city of Kalmar.The first known date for its establishment was February 29, 1696 – some 30 years after the university had been founded – but it is not confirmed whether the nation was an independent nation up until around 1750. Kalmar nation has always been a safe and secure place for everyone and the nation works actively to continue to be so even during a pandemic. From Friday 19 March, Kalmar nation will start its activity again as it was before Monday 15 March when we temporarily shut down. Kalmar nation förvaltar ett antal stipendier varje termin.
